Teaser:

Solitude

The silence
stretches
into eternity,
and words
remain unspoken.
We pretend
to be happy
for each
other’s benefit
and succeed
or so
we think.

A gesture
or remark,
small and
profound,
conveys
the sad message,
whispering
in our hearts
tales of
loneliness
yet to come.

Tears form
and drop,
are quickly
wiped away …
fierce sobs
break our hearts
in solitude …
but while
we are
together
the silence
continues.
