Man with the Plastic Heart
The man with the plastic heart
unhooks the heart-lung machine
and bends down to kiss.
She gives him her cheek.
He smiles,
steps into aqua-lung, body suit, slippers.
slips over the edge dissolves in a scream of bubbles.
He sinks fast.
She opens her breast-pocket
finds the heart-shaped candy,
chews it into gum
and spits after him.
Her heart dissolves.
Streaks of blood die downstream.
