About the Author:
Adwaita Das was born in 1984 in Calcutta. She graduated in English from Jadavpur University. While in college, she started a theatre group called Stage-Addict which mainly performed original plays in English. She won the Shyamanand Jalan National Award 2013 for her play Chhayankaner Janya. Adwaita has worked in news, entertainment, advertising and film media, being, as she says, rather confused about what to do in life and the purpose of it all. She is nearing the end of her course in film direction at the Film and Television Institute of India (Pune) but wants to be an astronaut when she grows up.

Take me home

Take me home.
Take me home
without chains.
and no washing utensils,
no cleaning,
no home
no home with housework,
take me home
stripped and sick,
not breathing
and naked,
take me home.

Things come back.
Early winter
and no water cold,
no water colder
than things come back.
all things
come back.

Safe from things,
take me home
