One of our publications featured in ‘Notes on Book Design’ curated by Formal Settings, published by niggli

A Writers Workshop publication has been featured in Notes on Book Design, published by niggli, co-authored by Amanda-Li Kollberg and Siri Lee Lindskrog, who run the Berlin-based designImage of front cover of book set against a black background. studio, Formal Settings. Kollberg and Lindskrog over the course of conversations with Siddhartha Lokanandi, founder-proprietor of the independent bookstore, Hopskotch Reading Room in Berlin, came up with the idea of featuring 50 books that have found their way through its doors.  Notes on Book Design describes the store as “dedicated to non-western and diasporic perspectives” and our publication, Dear Father and Other Poems by Balesh Jindal (1994) found pride of place in Hopskotch and now, within the pages of this beautifully designed book. 

“We draw parallels between the book as a design object and the cultural, historical and political circumstances under which it was created.”

The first edition of Notes on Book Design appeared in 2023 and this updated edition with niggli in 2026.
