The Writers Workshop Team
Ananda Lal now directs Writers Workshop, according to the wishes of P. Lal. He is a Professor, Department of English, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He has served as the Head of that Department and has had a long and distinguished career in English literary studies in India, and as a translator and editor. His own books include Rabindranath Tagore: Three Plays (1987, 2001) and The Oxford Companion to Indian Theatre (2004). He has been theatre critic of The Telegraph (Kolkata) since 1986, and has written articles and reviews in many books and journals published internationally, as well as for most national newspapers and magazines. He has lectured in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and all over India.
Shuktara Lal handles the administrative work and correspondence, and helps with the editing. She completed her B.A. and M.A. in English from Jadavpur University and obtained a second M.A., in Performance Studies, from New York University in 2007.
Writers Workshop books are printed by Abhijit Nath at SJ Perfection Printing, Lake Gardens, Kolkata, and bound by the family of Aktarun Begum, Tulamiah Mohiuddin’s widow, in a village near Diamond Harbour, outside Kolkata.
