About the Book
Vignettes of Valour is a selection of reports filed by Abhijit Chandra over a period spanning approximately two decades and based on interviews with Armed Forces veterans, their kin and martyrs’ relatives. The book endeavours to portray incidents and matters related to events that comprise indelible chapters in our country’s military history. In these pages the reader shall find vivid descriptions of the nightmarish horrors of battle contrasted with noble acts of patriotism and unalloyed bravery as well as insights into strategy – an arena that decides the fate of warfare…

Vignettes of Valour takes you on a remarkable journey from the Second World War, through the conflicts of 1962, 1965 and 1971 to Operation Vijay, which witnessed daring young officers showing their mettle by vanquishing a well-entrenched foe that had the tactical advantage of higher ground.”
