A Stray Dog in Winter

Its curl does not follow
some pattern à la Fibonacci.
Beauty is not a concern here.
But being warm, and a strategy
to stay that way.

You can pass by, very close
and without any alarm.
The crinkle of a wrapper
would not ring a bell

and you may munch on.

A dog that’s losing heat quickly
doesn’t care if some humans
feel free on a winter evening,
just because they’re good at
keeping warmth to themselves.
