From Prologue

I

Essentially,
What else does a man
Do with women?
He makes them
Objects of desire,
Sometimes perfect,
Sometimes flawed;
And their souls lie
Unloved.

II.

Inventing the Dark Goddess

Perhaps the oldest profession
Was born of the oldest oppression;
The kind of mindset that said
A man with sixteen thousand women
Can still be a brahmacharin, divine;
But a woman with five husbands
Is little better than a whore, shameless:
So that a man may mimic the Dark God
In a bona fide search, and be praised,
But a woman has no such spaces
In which to look for answers.
