We are happy to announce that Surajit Borooah’s Selected Assamese Poetry has been judged Joint Runners-Up at the Muse India – Satish Verma Translation Awards 2017 for poetry, along with Seth Michelson’s translation of Rati Saxena’s Scripted in the Streams (Poetrywala, 2017). Selected Assamese Poetry was brought out by Writers Workshop, India, in 2015.

Both these volumes share the Runners-Up prize as much for the quality of selection of poems as for the quality of translation. The easy readability of these poems of kaleidoscopic range is due to the unpretentious approach of the translators. The translations retain the poetic appeal of the poems.”
