His brow had Plato’s gloom
Giving off tidal darkness.
She was once his Hesperides.
She bore his dreams on a
Stretcher to the burning
Ghat with due tenderness.
She had a forked tongue which
Like lightning stabbed the dark.
When she said: “Goodbye” to
Him, too rooted poppies
In his blood trembled, but
Her eyes had the diamond’s glint.
She was a blood-clot moving
In his brain and paralyzing
His grief.
